Actually I've got a little extra understanding of this. When I was a little kid I nearly died from being fed peanuts they didn't know I was allergic to. Throat closed up, the whole deal. And my brain did some kind of rewiring trick, and whatever you guys taste in peanut butter, I don't taste it. I have no idea what peanuts and peanut butter taste like to those of you who like it, because my brain reprogrammed the taste. Peanuts taste like nothing except pain and itchyness to me. I can't detect anything else. People tell me they taste great, I know people who love them, but I can't taste it whatsoever. The circuits associated with those flavors have been reconfigured. Once a year or so I accidently bite into something with peanuts and the taste is something like acid and itchiness.

Actually, when it comes to peanut butter, it's the oil, fat, and sugar that really tastes good to most people.  There is peanut butter out there that is mostly just ground up peanuts and is much healthier for you, but most people (myself included) like the stuff that is full of sugar, oil, and fat.  My gf gets the healthier stuff sometimes (she also gets cashew butter and almond butter sometimes) and it just tastes bland to me.

I've only bought the natural peanut butter (nothing but peanuts and salt) for decades, and I'm totally used to it. It has a lot of flavor. Whenever I happen to taste the 'normal' American peanut butter (peanuts, hydrogenated vegetable oil/lard, sugar, salt, etc., etc.) it tastes weird to me, like Nutella or some kind of bizarre candy.

Almond butter is great, but it's like 4x the cost of peanut butter. :(

And yes, I know how to cook rice in a pot, thank you very much. †;)

I see Denyse is as dumb as ever:

Hereís another dangerous platitude: ďDonít get the Rock of Ages mixed up with the age of the rocks.Ē Oh? Why not? Either the Rock of Ages is responsible for the age of the rocks or he isnít. Can you see the subtle appeal here to replace your Christian worldview with a materialist worldview when considering such questions as the origin of the universe, the earth, or life?

Oh, and here's a classic nonanswer to Phonon:

Oh you donít know what this has to do with ID? If this is really the case, I would advise you to first go and read some basic stuff about ID theory. Maybe you also want to check out the overwhelming evidence webside where more elementary concepts are discussed than here (overwhelming evidence= mostly ID interested students; this side= mostly ID scientists).
Hope I could help.

Wow, Dopderbeck will soon be No More, too:

Denyse, this, IMHO, is just about inexcusable. Youíve taken a post with someoneís honest doubts, posted Iím sure without the expecation of publicity, and have now broadcast it to the world. Youíve included no context, youíve not quoted any of the responses to this personís questions, and, probably worst of all, you never participated in the original ASA thread. You offered this struggling person no help ó zilch ó not one word of encouragement, not one book recommendation, nothing. Instead, you just felt free to do this. Pathetic.

In a funny way, Denyse's comment has EXACTLY as much to do with ID as we've all come to expect. †:p

I assume DaveTard told Big Bill that Phonon posted here and was thus a Nonbeliever Who Had to Be Driven From the Temple.

So basically, just posting here is a banning offence at UD, just like it is at Helen Lovejoy's FTK's blog.

Anyway, we should all give Phonon a hero's welcome when he comes back. Publically banned by Sauron himself. †:p

Iíve removed Phonon and Dopderbeck from this forum.

For the record, I regard this piece as the best summary Iíve seen of the capitulation to materialism that has come to infest so much of what on the surface seems confessionally sound Christian thinking. Take Denyseís message to heart. Indeed, it is prophetic.

It's incomprehensible! Take it to heart? I can't get through it (which is probably good news).

Is it "materialist" to ask that a verb follow a noun to create some understandable concepts?

And for a "non-materialist" WAD certainly seems to think that erasing something makes it never have existed. How very spiritual. 9 years and counting, mister.

Whether his prediction is prophetic awaits future judgment...so here we have nested prophesy, UD's answer to nested hierarchy. Pretty deep.

Way to go Bill's Tard crush teh dissent

I made no attempt to hide my pseudonymous "identity." I could have signed in to UD with some other made up name. I'm sure I would have been banned for that comment regardless.

Without pontificating on the ins and outs of the spiritual struggle over the predominating Christian world view, I can say that the battle ground has moved past agnosticism and well into the Church. Ironically, agnostics almost seem more open to the notion of Intelligent Design than many evolutionists of the ďtheisticĒ variety.
Um. No.

Hero? I was just doin mah jawb.  :D

Wow, I was banned in a moment of prophecy! I didn't realize I was blaspheming. Father WAD, forgive me. Of course, WAD doesn't even bother with the charade anymore. "Materialism" (science) is just not sound "Christian" (ID) thinking.

Denyse is not only a very creative and imaginative writer, but one of the most insightful people Iíve ever had the pleasure to meet (if only by telephone and e-mail).

"creative and imaginative" indeed....truer words have never been spoken by Gil.

Hey Gil

Please, buy another one of Denzes books will ya, I think she wants to sell another one.

That way you'll double the sales and world vision may stand a chance.

Directed panspermia implies intelligent design at least for the life on this planet.
