Me, I'm beginning to think that laughing at the UDers is getting old.  Now that they've crossed the line into self-parody, it's becoming uncomfortably close to teasing actual retards. I pledge to use my spare internet time I would normally have wasted by reading UD for more constructive purposes.  There's a nice Nigerian chap who wants my help transferring some funds out of the country.  And then there's all that online porn I've never got around to looking at (well, not systematically, anyway). I'm taking the high road here - who's with me? --------------

My resolution is to steadfastly ignore creationists and all such crackpots until such time as they present at least a minimally credible challenge in some forum that's not a joke. Not that I regret all the effort I've devoted to it heretofore. There was a moment when it looked like the Forces of Dumb were making a concerted run at school boards, nationwide but especially in my state, Ohio. They had unveiled their WMD (weapon of mass deception): "Intelligent Design Theory". But now that has been revealed as the scam that it is, and appears to be ready to join Pet Rocks and the like in the graveyard of passing fads. I resolve to use the time saved by ignoring crackpots to non-ridiculous reading. I resolve to check into afdave's three-ring circus for the last time on Dec. 31. -------------- Must... not... scratch... mosquito bite.

I shall try to blind them with science and humor, because ranting and hurling my jingle-skirt in a huff didn't work. Moreover I do already have resolutions to read certain books and papers, write certain writing projects, get certain grades, survive certain upcoming workplace projects, and show up again finally at certain dance classes. BWE Posts: 1902 Joined: Jan. 2006 (Permalink) Posted: Jan. 03 2007,06:30    My New Years resolution: This year I am going to dive the bering sea with a group of folks I know who do it every other year. This time I really mean it. I did a new years dive in Puget sound off Oak Harbor this year in a friend's gear and I realized that if I want to see anything good, I've got to do it soon. Although, We did manage to scare a big octopus up, even in the most likely places the ling cod were absent and no eels or cabizon either. The rockfish were very young. They don't breed when they are young so I am taking it as a sign that the days of puget sound bottomfishing are mostly a thing of the past. We stayed in until the tide drove us out. Yes it is cold but well worth the chill.
