A number of people have asked why Blechly published this incestuously in the DI's phony science rag he helps edit instead of a professional paleontology journal. Nothing but crickets so far.... |
I looked through it briefly & didn't see any reason why the paper would be controversial (unless there are issues around access to the fossil), but this isn't my area of work so I could easily miss something. |
It's been a long time since I read the rules on naming, but there is one on publishing in an appropriate, reasonably-well-distributed, journal.
There were people, in the XIXth Century, who heard about discoveries, and quickly published in their personal, obscure, journals in order to get priority.
This doesn't appear to be such a case, but ....
