Hey davetard (we know you lurk here)...
Want to get away?
And I wonder if this will work (or here's to trying to archive the thread so far...):
Quote | 13 February 2008 A Sterling Example of the Anti-religionists DaveScot Propriety prohibits me from even quoting the title of this brilliant piece of anti-religious bigotry.
Click here to see it but be forewarned it’s going to be highly offensive to most Uncommon Descent members.
Those people are their own worst enemy…

12:22 pm Even when it’s good it’s bad. The linked blog’s points don’t hold water for as long as it takes one to read them.

12:27 pm I agree that this is a poor argument. No one should pass judgement on Denyse until they, at least, know her middle name.

12:32 pm Yeah, the hatred of the left against religion is sickening. It has long been obvious to me that the irrational animosity in the evolutionist camp comes mostly from the religion haters. They use evolution as a weapon to keep religion at bay. Since the homosexual and pro-abortion lobby sees evangelicals as a threat to their well-being, it would not come as a surprise if the proportion of homosexuals and pro-abortion advocates among evolutionists is found to be much higher than in the average population.

2:12 pm I must admit, I have seen worse written about Ms. O’Leary, but I’m too much of a gentleman to repeat it.

3:31 pm How sad, and stupid. Don’t people like that know they are defeating their own purpose? If you have to resort to profanity then you don’t really have a very persuasive complaint.

3:51 pm I could write a book on the subject of religion bashing by supposed professional scientists. It’s disgusting, and yes they are defeating their purpose.
Eugenie is constantly saying that religion and Darwnism are not in conflict whatsoever! It’s all good!
Then you do a little Internet surfing and just about puke at the way so many of the posters at Pro-Darwin sites ridicule religious beliefs.
They don’t even seem to worry about what people think of their nonsense. You can tell them over and over that they are proving the point that Darwinists are anti-religion, yet they just keep on making complete fools of themselves.
Oh, well…helps us at least.

4:00 pm After much trepidation, I finally clicked over there.
The language is offensive, absolutely. Blasphemous and ugly. (To be candid, I don’t like Denyse’s writing very much. Nothing personal, I just don’t think she’s a very good writer. However, the language of this post is out of bounds.)
Still, I’m not sure I’d call it “anti-religious.” It’s anti-Denyse for sure. But it ends with a note that “Many Evangelicals in the USA still think that “evolution” is incompatible with their faith, despite what a great many Christians say to the contrary.” As a pro-evolution Christian, I think this is true. Not all Christians think evolution and Christianity are incompatible. So that part of it I liked.
I also found something in the comments which, if true, is more disturbing than the post itself.

4:00 pm Peter: If you have to resort to profanity then you don’t really have a very persuasive complaint.
Personally, the profanity does not bother me. Profanity can sometimes be a very effective psychological tool against an enemy. What bothers me is the hidden agenda behind the profanity. Darwinists and atheists do not use profanity because they are sure of their stance. They use it because they are scared. They don’t want to hear any suggestion that their arguments might be full of holes. Why? The reason is that, if evolution were shown to be lacking, it would destroy an extremely important weapon in their arsenal. They are fighting a propaganda war against their sworn enemy, the Christian fundamentalists. That’s the hidden agenda. They will fight teeth and nails.
In a previous post, I wrote that it would not surprise me if the proportion of homosexuals and pro-abortion advocates were higher amongst evolutionists than in the population. I’ll go even further than that: it would not surprise if some of the most vocal male atheists and Darwinists were closet homosexuals, regardless of their marital status.
In that sense, I think that some fundamentalist Christians, especially the fire and brimstone kind, are doing ID a disservice. A lot of the opposition to ID is a direct reaction to the condemnatory tone of some Christians. I say this even though I am myself a Christian. Of course, this does not excuse the Darwinists because science is supposed to follow the evidence whereever it leads, not one’s personal biases, politics or fears.

4:30 pm Can Mrs. O’Leary, like, get one of the Discovery Institute’s lawyers to go after this libelous piece of trash?
No human being should have to be subjected to such filth. I feel like I need to take a shower after reading that.

5:01 pm Dave I happen to have had some run ins with this individual. Seems that’s his M.O. on his blog though elsewhere he seems to have calmed down.
But believe it or not, there is worse. More insidious to me is not the goofs like PTET, who mock openly with cursing, but the APPEARANCE of smooth albeit condescending remarks under the guise of knowledge and panache and research and careful thought.
I’ll see if I can find an example for you.

5:30 pm FtK,
I really wish you would write a book. I know I would buy it. You’re most excellent blog documents what a weak foundation Darwinism rests on and how the evolutionists must resort to slander and mockery to cover up the lack of evidence for the Darwinian myth. I like your style. I laughed at how you exposed that atheist with your “Happy Darwin Day” post.
On the subject of books, I think we should all buy Denyse’s book as a show of support.
