The Synthese Editors-in-Chief have responded to the main petition. They created a domain for their response, whose single page presents exactly one image of text.

I have transcribed it.

Basically, they don't see that they got anything wrong in applying the disclaimer and keeping everybody with a direct interest in that decision in the dark.

That was a crappy thing.

It's like the newspaper that prints one thing and then buries the retraction in the sports section underneath the hockey results.

No one notices and the original work keeps spewing forth.

They might as well have not done it and at least been consistent.  This just smacks of pandering.

Moreover, this does not answer my questions at all. What about transparency, proper communication and notification, integrity? Intelligent design is not essentially the question. I never thought that the editors-in-chief "endorsed" intelligent design.

They took an extraordinary step and they need to account for it. They have not done that yet. Contrary to what critics of the "Darwinist agenda" have been saying, trust and ethics are a key components in scholarly communication.

Atheistoclast on PT claimed that he made the complaint. Not that he isn't known as a lying SOB.

Is this it?

I would like to think that my own strenuous efforts in repeatedly contacting the main editors were productive. It is a victory for common sense over the likes of Branch and Forrest.

ETA - Here it is! This is actually at the Thumb.

LOL, Steve. I am sure you read all those papers!

Give us specific examples of “new” functions arising. “Variant” functions, that are only slightly different, don’t count.

Anyway, I am pleased that the NCSE’s polemic against ID has backfired. I had threatened Synthese with legal action.

It is a victory for all decent Americans.

The plot thickens, but I'm not sure with what.

Thanks, Kristine, I've added the link to PT and another on TalkRational where "Atheistoclast" identifies himself to a thread on "New Apps" where speculation about who threatened Synthese is topical.

I don't beleave anything Atheistoclast writes. IMO he is another dishonest liar and pretentious Kook. E.g., he devided his four names by two to pretend one of his writings had been written by two authors. PT should move anything he posted there to the bathroom wall. But make shure that the wall doesn't have doors or windows.
BTW, he is currently spamming Larry Moran's sandwalk.

Besides trolling the internet Atheistoclast is spamming journals as well. IIRC, this is not the first case. According to his own words he is fully aware of what he is doing and he is even proud of it.E.g., see the discussion here

Well, to take a step back and look at context, here is an article on the American Economic Association's decision to end double-blind peer review, on the basis that in this age of Google, it "no longer exists" anyway.

Intriguing that, considering that double-blind reviewing appears to result in greater publication rates for women and graduate students.

And we can't have that.

"Are you blind????!!!"
