Don't know how much of a news item this may be but it was recently announced here that thorium is being 'burned' in Halden, home of the HBWR. IIRC, it said that thorium with 20% plutonium added is used in a conventional reactor. The experiment will run for several years but results already looks better than predicted.

Nah, he's allowed to troll his own thread, surely?

Almost Mabus-like at times.

If you see his posts @ UseNet, that`ll be sure to knock you. He`s comparable to Ed Conrad, though Thrinaxodon and Conrad have said they're not each other.

what about all the thorium that's found naturally in the environment?

Seriously, you need to work harder.  Go read Gary's thread.  There's a guy with stamina.

You realize that the first amphibians predate the first frogs by at least 100 million years right?

Wait, let's be more clear.  You realize that 'amphibian' does not equal 'frog' right?  And that modern frogs and the frogs from the early Triassic and (perhaps) late Permian are not the same?

BTW: The all caps is a cute touch... but your spelling is too accurate to be considered a true crank.  You need to work on that.

Sure. Want a partial list?

Phlogiston. (or however that's spelled.)

Aether.

Steady state.

Various early models of the atom.

An early reported detection of element 118 (prior to the report that's still on the books).

That space probe that had an unexplained deceleration for decades, causing them to suspect some undiscovered principle of physics, until somebody realized that its electronics were acting as a low thrust photon drive.

Mars probe that landed a bit too hard. (that was Mars wasn't it?)

Cold fusion.

All the speculations when pulsars were first detected but not yet explained.
