Some of this caught my eye and I took pause from an ongoing life crisis to comment on some things that are key.

Must be a real crisis all up on that island, for Gordon to mention it in passing while writing a gajillion more words of gibberish that no one is going to read. Feels like he was almost distracted by it there for a second.

Clearly. But most art critics, who couldn't drive a camel to save themselves, think they are a god. Which might explain why ancient failed camel drivers invented gods to justify their opinions on cave drawings. There must be a Larson or Don Martin cartoon that illustrates this.

At 7,000–8,000 years old, they predate the domestication of camels (so far as we know). Ancient people get smarter every time we run into them.

Who wants to point out they also predate Teh Creation by GOD The Intelligent Designer?

I wonder if they had guys like Joe, BA77, Arrington and KF back then.

Denyse has just published one of her news pieces, where she points to some really interesting science. Of course, being Denyse she adds her own rather inane comment:

So is everybody a creationist now but some people are in denial about it?

Writing that on an ID site is just asking for it...

I just found that - he was in the Rudy Giuliani deposition, which Mike Dunford looked at last night. The one where, at one point, Giuliani admits to free associating. In, um, his deposition. Mike didn't know who Barry was. His response when I pointed it out on twitter was, and I quote verbatim, "Oh fuckaduck".

It's refreshing when after decades of pushing hard for Intelligent Design William Dembski's new book The Comprehensive Guide to Science and Faith: Exploring the Ultimate Questions About Life and the Cosmos is listed at Amazon as

Since I mentioned Dembski: He has a new piece on his personal webpages on the origin of Sars-Cov2. While this would have been the chance to demonstrate the strength of design detection (all sequences are available and IIRC he claimed to have appropriate tools) he of course evades the challenge.

Evade the challenge of explaining that germs were also "designed" by his, er, "designer"? Well of course he'd evade that, they nearly always do. Oh, and parasites as well as germs.

I guess he's part of the big design inference cover-up.

I hope he's getting paid more than me for it.

All it cost was an unlimited pass to the Baylor cafeteria.

Initially, I was wondering if he was aware of the irony when he cited the following statement
Quote
“China is trying to produce variants that suggest it came from bats to cover up that coronavirus originally came from a lab.”
However, I guess he just doesn't care.

Isn't it time for new thread? We've missed the 500 mark but I don't think we can celebrate 1000 comments in the foreseeable future.

ETA: I must admit that I don’t know why the former threads had been finished. Was it a technical necessity or just the beauty of the numbers 500 and 1000 which became a tradition?

As I recall, it's that the forum software can sometimes get confused when a thread gets reeeeeeeeeealy long. The 500 or 1000 are just convenient guidelines.

The Joe's Tardgasm thread was turned off because it was decided that it was not appropriate to make fun of the mentally deficient.  :)

I've been thinking that it would be a tribute to the memory of Steve Story to close this thread and let it stand as a reminder to his gentle good humour and optimism. Uncommon Descent is on a downward spiral and there's nothing there now worthy of a passing mention.

"Intelligent Design" has had its fifteen minutes of fame and squandered it.

Alan, I can’t agree with you more. I pushed for shutting this thread down earlier because I felt that it had devolved into a site where we ridiculed KF, BA77, Barry, ET and others for their obvious stupidity, rather than responding to well presented arguments. UD stopped providing well presented arguments years ago.

If you need any more proof, just look at the fact that the most interactive threads over the past few years have been those where my socks have blatantly been trolling KF over subjects such as SSM and abortion. Acartia, Tintinnid, Armand Jacks, William Spearshake, Ziggy Lorenc, Paige, etc.

I think it would be a great memorial to Steve to let this thread die, just as ID has died.
