In his memory he did what so many wanted to:

I was surprised; I had mistakenly and hopefully assumed his recent frail appearance was due in part to a new round of aggressive treatments. Sadly not.

My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, any place, any time. And anyone who disagrees with this can pick a number, get in line and kiss my ass.

Well said sir.  Thank you Hitch.

When I met Hitch, I told him that his interview with Anderson Cooper gave me and Dawkins one of the most fist-pumping moments in our lives. Hitch, who had just changed his shirt ;) , asked, "And what was I burbling about this time?" (Oh, he was totally a charmer.) I told him that we were both in the Galapagos when we saw his comments on Jerry Falwell's death. He replied, "I would have loved to have been there myself." I don't know if he ever visited the Galapagos.

"This horrible little person" from a great person. Hitchens on Jerry Falwell:

The empty life of this ugly little charlatan proves only one thing: that you can get away with the most extraordinary offenses to morality and to truth in this country if you just get yourself called "Reverend." Who would, even at your network, have invited on such a little toad, to tell us that the attack on September the 11th were the results of our sinfulness, or were sign of God's punishment, if they haven't got some kind of terrible qualification? People like that should be out in the street shouting and hollering with a cardboard sign, and selling pencils from a cup! The whole consideration of this horrible little person is very, very offensive to many of us who have some regard for truth and morality, and who think that ethics do not require that lies be told to children from evil old men! Were we not told that people who believe like Falwell will be snatched up into Heaven - where I'm glad to see that he skipped the Rapture, and was found on the floor of his office - while the rest of us go to Hell? How dare they talk to children like this? How dare they raise money from credulous people on their huckster-like, Elmer Gantry radio stations and fly around in private jets!

Such eloquence in a live interview! The man was astonishing. His command of language is an inspiration to me. Lifting a scotch to Hitchens!

A life worth celebrating! Christopher Hitchens will remain alive in the memories of all those who admired him for his incisiveness, good humour and fortitude.

Have you ever seen Lou, Christine, Galapogos Fintch, Hitch or Dawkins in the same room?
