I'm sad.  Maybe it's for the best.  Competition will probably produce better systems than government bloat.  I don't know.

The US has abandoned space.  If we don't get a new system within 4 years, we'll probably never have one again.

But, yeah, I agree - if we don't see something soon, we probably never will - at least from the US.  Good thing there are some companies already working on projects.  My only question is - when do I get my personal rocket pack?

Dude, we can't trust some people with cars moving in only two dimensions (and time), how in the hell are we supposed to trust these idiots to move in three dimensions (and time) and eat their Taco Bell Grilled Stuft Burrito* at the same time???


* I really want Taco Bell right now...

Give us all rocket packs, I'll keep mine in storage (and myself in my house with a fire extinguisher handy) for a few weeks, and by then nature and selection will have taken care of the worst cases.  Then it's just a matter of waiting until the next batch matures.
