It's just a stupid internet joke.  Probably stemming from the L33T (elite) playful mispellings.  It's a typo that only results from the keyboard layout.  Also common is "PWNED" rather than "OWNED".  For added humor it's common to see people spell out the 1 just to show that it was intentional!!!11one1 Yes, it's stupid.  Most internet jokes are.  But, now you know.
