Actually, when it comes to peanut butter, it's the oil, fat, and sugar that really tastes good to most people. There is peanut butter out there that is mostly just ground up peanuts and is much healthier for you, but most people (myself included) like the stuff that is full of sugar, oil, and fat. My gf gets the healthier stuff sometimes (she also gets cashew butter and almond butter sometimes) and it just tastes bland to me. |
I've only bought the natural peanut butter (nothing but peanuts and salt) for decades, and I'm totally used to it. It has a lot of flavor. Whenever I happen to taste the 'normal' American peanut butter (peanuts, hydrogenated vegetable oil/lard, sugar, salt, etc., etc.) it tastes weird to me, like Nutella or some kind of bizarre candy.
Almond butter is great, but it's like 4x the cost of peanut butter. 
And yes, I know how to cook rice in a pot, thank you very much.  |
