Physics pop quiz for Joke!
Start with a large pot of room temperature water. Put in on the stove and turn the burner to its lowest setting, 1/10. The water temperature rises until it reaches equilibrium temperature, say 140 deg. F. Now you add extra energy by turning the burner to a higher setting, 2/10. What happens to the water?
1. It goes up in temperature until it reaches a new equilibrium point, say 160 deg. F.
2. It stays at 140 deg F all day, then stays at 140 deg. F for a few extra hours after the burner is turned off.
