Unless you call it what it is, lying by equivocation.
See, that's the superiority of their position, moral certitude coupled with a host of deceptive and dishonest tactics. To be sure, they're often lying to themselves as much as to others, but the two go together, and they generally manage to escape the confines of their moral absolutes by using some transparent subterfuge or other.
