Because the climate information is encoded in the tree ring widths and can be decoded and used by scientists later.
That's a code dumbfuck. It's why scientists use the terms encode and decode when discussing dendrochronology as climate proxies. Your amazing ignorance of all things scientific doesn't change scientific facts one iota.

Data is recorded by the tree. Climate data is recorded by the tree. Then scientists come along, collect that data and give it meaning.
