Old timers used to talk about "transmitting on the 10 meter band", for example. Everything was always in wavelength. Now they always talk in frequency and guess what? They were both talking about the SAME thing. One generation's wavelength became the next generation's frequency and they both refer to the same thing.
So yes, context matters.
