And as far as the TV license fee goes, it pays for what is still ( for all its faults), one of the best broadcasting services in the world - radio, TV and internet - vast content for around 2 quid a week. |
If I didn't have to deal with commercials, I'd pay (US equiv) about $4 a week for unlimited TV and radio.
Here, in the US, people pay $100-$200 a month for cable and STILL have the damned commercials.
If it wasn't for my mom wanting a TV, I'd go back to not having cable or satellite in a second. My son was 6 before he saw a TV commercial for the first time. I could have happily gone the rest of my life without them.
I tried to watch Agents of SHIELD on it's network release a few weeks ago (on my mom's TV) and couldn't stand the commercials. I almost quit watching. I persevered, but haven't done that anymore. |
I cancelled my Sky (satellite tv) subscription and bought a Netflix subscription and a Roku streaming stick to access iPlayer etc. With that and Freeview I have all the TV I need for a <£10 per month (over and above broadband at 100mbps for another £30 per month)
The only thing I don't get is some of the live sport, about which a shit is not given since my sons moved out.
