Quote (Learned Hand @ Jan. 16 2015,18:17) | Didn't WJM admit somewhere he doesn't care what the truth is, only what maximizes his utility? Not in those terms, but I can't recall. Anyone remember where? |
Here are a couple places where he said more or less that.
This thread: Quote | I don’t care what reality is; I only care what I actually experience. I do things based upon patterns of experience; I don’t insist my experiences represent any reality “out there”, nor do I insist that my model represents “reality” or any existential “truth”. If this is all a dream or a hallucination, I don’t care. |
Also here: Quote | In any event, the idea that Uri Geller can “fool” me, or that I”m “fooled” by any of the sources of information I’ve provided demonstrates that you’ve missed a salient point I’ve made over and over: I don’t hold any of that information as true. How can I be “fooled” that something is true, when I don’t hold that it is true?
I only care if something appears to work in my experience. |
But whenever he is called on it, he claims his statement is being taken out if context somehow.
