So, Joe only looks at evolution from the perspective of humans (and probably just from his perspective). I guess he never thought that the evolution of a new disease is an adaptive trait of the bacteria causing the disease. |
He's also trivially wrong. There are small groups of people who are immune to HIV and heart disease because of their mutations.

'mutations can only cause harm' is extremely clueless. If it were true, it would actually be evidence for ID, since an intelligence would have to deny any possible change which could improve things.
