Quote (Kantian Naturalist @ April 24 2013,15:53)
For the curious: I've resumed posting at The Skeptical Zone.  I can only hope that Alan Fox chooses to stop posting at UD -- then that entire site will devolve into Philip's constant rantings about quantum mechanics and the occasional Bible study.

On the misunderstandings of evolutionary theory at UD: the anti-essentialism of population thinking is one thing they do not grasp.  Another is that taxa above the species level aren't real entities -- they're just labels assigned to similarities and differences between species.  This comes through in their constant raving about "body-plans" -- as if body-plans are something that needs to be explained over and above speciation.

Or am I wrong, and there's a serious scientific debate here?

Sorry, but I have to disagree

It's not that "they don't grasp these issues"

not at all.

it's that they couldn't possibly give any less of a fuck

*shrug*  taking them seriously to argue with them just gives them culture war boners

don't get me wrong, i love to laugh my ass off at these bozos to this day but i'd just say that in order to protect your OWN sanity never ever presume that any of them are actually interested in learning a goddang thing
