Is the cover on the left a fake? From what I can tell, it’s from April 2007, not 1977. The original headline was “The Global Warming Survival Guide”.
The 1977 “ice age” version doesn’t appear in the Time magazine cover archives for that year:

Then again, Barry did get caught lying--posting a poorly photoshopped Time cover that swaps the title "How to Survive the Coming Ice Age onto a 2007 Global Warming issue.

Revisiting this, there is a more charitable explanation I'm willing to extend to Barry and the UDites.
I think Barry is envious of Cave-dwellers, having been unable to master such technology himself.
"Have you been living in a cave"? is an envious question. He wishes sleep free from the cold embrace of the wind and wake up dry and warm. Wait 'till he sees fire. He'll be very interested. The wheel too - and it also probably shows that trees are designed.
