I offered a slightly different take on Gliese 581d over in Science Break yesterday.

The Register (a British web site) describes the planet with this headline: "Planet with British weather found 20 light years away".  

They go on to describe the planet's weather as "-cold, rainy and just about capable of supporting life."

it follows that life in Britain has been, is and will remain borderline
