Quote (oldmanintheskydidntdoit @ July 31 2010,13:05) | In his next comment Gordon says something very interesting: Quote | And if there is an argument that somehow the mechanical necessity of nature will do the job, that is equivalent to saying that life forms were programmed into the basic physics and chemistry of the cosmos. Of this, we find nowhere the faintest observational evidence, and it would point directly from program to programmer. |
That seems to be in direct contradiction to many stated positions at UD. I thought the "cosmos was designed for us"? Or is it just Gordon explicitly shutting out the TE contingent? |
That contradiction always grabbed me. They want it to be simultaneously true that:
1) The universe was fine tuned in every parameter by an intelligent agent to support the emergence of life,
2) The earth was intelligently privileged not just for life, but for intelligent life, and,
3) It is impossible that life arose naturally on that earth, without the real-time intervention and constant tinkering of an intelligent agent.
Huh?
