From the Right Wing Professor:

Quote
I guess I'm more cynical. I've seen some pretty bad behavior in my own field. I've seen open attempts to stop unfavorable data being published, cliques, mutual back scratching at review panels, and a whole host of abuses less relevant to 'climategate'. The level of fudging of the climate data has surprised me. I'm astonished to see little matrices of weighting factors whose purpose seems to hide blips. And the record keeping looks dreadful.

I really think, given the public policy importance, that there needs to be an independent commission of scientists from outside this discipline, including experts in database handling and statistical analysis, to do a comprehensive review of the work of this and other labs. There needs to be a restoration of public confidence. This looks like what happens when a small amateur operation evolves into something important, and none of the principals know how to accomplish the transition properly.

The instrumental record, which seems to indicate some moderate degree of overall warming concentrated at the poles, is still hard to escape. And the basic physics is rock solid.

Any version of ID consistent with all the evidence is indistinguishable from evolution.
