What does that mean? That twelve genes have been started by separate start codons but overlap before a stop codon stops all of them? If that's what it means, just how is that a sign of any kind of intelligence? That sort of thing would be a major handicap in any situation in which a change to one or two of them would be beneficial but would break some of the others.
Or did I misread it?
